About

Hotel Puerta America

Hotel Puerta America is a five-star property in Madrid's Chamartín district, an area of upscale boutiques and bistros. The hotel is famous for its architecture: 19 top designers were each given a floor to style, from Zaha Hadid's Space Club rooms to the bold geometry of other award-winning studios. Expect striking visuals in the lobby, corridors and rooms — a stay here is as much about the spaces as the sleep.

Beyond the design, the hotel is practical. It sits a little over five minutes' walk from the Avenida de América transport interchange, linking you to the airport and all of Madrid. There's a restaurant, cafe, fitness centre, meeting rooms and a sun terrace, plus 24-hour reception and security. Parking is available on site, including an electric vehicle charging station.

In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Design pedigree — Each floor is the work of a different top designer, giving the hotel a unique architectural identity.
  • Roof terrace and bars — The SkyNight penthouse and rooftop bar are praised for city views, music and cocktails — a highlight of many stays.
  • Breakfast spread — Guests repeatedly mention a varied, high-quality breakfast with gluten-free options and plant milks.
  • Location near transport hub — Five minutes' walk from Avenida de América interchange, giving easy access to the airport and any part of Madrid.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Paid parking and busy road — The hotel is on a main road and parking costs extra — something to budget for if you drive.
  • Reception can be slow — A couple of guests noted check-in waits, though staff were still described as correct and helpful.
  • Rooms show minor wear — One guest found a dirty room-service menu and a weak hairdryer — small details that may disappoint at this level.
  • Not in the historic centre — The Chamartín location is convenient but a little far from the main tourist sights — expect to use the metro.

“I'm from Madrid and stayed here the night before moving abroad. Expectations were high and they were exceeded. Lots of room types to choose from — reception showed me all the options with patience. The area can seem a bit inhospitable if you don't know it, but two minutes' walk behind the hotel there are bars, restaurants and shops. Just over five minutes from the Avenida de America interchange, from where you can reach any part of Madrid and the airport.”

“The breakfast was incredible — huge variety, great quality, even gummies for the kids. Everything down to the smallest detail. I loved every part of the hotel, would definitely repeat if back in Madrid. The room on the 11th floor was incredible. Very good food at the restaurant below. SkyNight penthouse was great too — good music, atmosphere, incredible views and rich cocktails. Quiet and luxurious. Staff were attentive and on top of everything. After being in the centre, arriving here was the best part. Location was great, metro gets you everywhere, and coming from the highway was no problem. Will repeat for sure — highly recommended.”
